Complete a LivCo “Triathlon” by hiking, biking, and paddling in a single day!

Nothing says spring like nature’s flowers, and Sonyea State Forest has one of the best - red trillium!  it is actually part of the original Genesee Valley Canal. Abandoned in 1878, and resurrected as a railroad from 1880 until 1963, you can still see remnants of the canal and railbed as you hike to a beautiful waterfall and enjoy the trillium.

If you miss the trillium, a summertime hike here is just as beautiful.

Sure to add to the adventure, there’s only one way in and one way out. Be aware the dirt road is rough but well worth the views. Park at the yellow gate, then hike down to the bottom and turn left.

Looking for solitude? Letchworth’s east side is the place to escape. Park staff refer to Letchworth’s east side as the “rustic side.” Come check it out for hiking, bird watching, and incredible sunsets! Be sure to pick up an official full-color Letchworth Map before heading out! LivCo Basecamp is well stocked, and the access points aren’t too far away from our location in Mt Morris.

Fun Fact:  LivCo has the most hiking trails in Letchworth State Park, stretching over 56 miles!

  • Trail 12 - Seneca
    • (1.5 mi/2.4 km roundtrip)
This is a picturesque hike, that ends at an old bridge across the gorge. Rather than parking at the trailhead, we suggest parking at the corner of Oakland & River Roads and walking down the dirt road to the trailhead.
  • Trail 16 – Bear Hollow
    • (4 mi/6.4 km roundtrip)
Lots of twists and turn to be had on this two mile trail. Parking is .5 mile south of the intersection of River Rd and Ridge Road E.
  • Trail 21 - Powerline
    • (1.5 mi/2.4 km roundtrip)
Easy trail with open areas, forest, and a beautiful lean-to close by!
  • Trail 22 - Sycamore
    • (1.5 mi/2.4 km roundtrip)
This trailhead is a bit tricky to find. Park on the road and look for the trailhead on the north side of the barn near Picket Line Road. This short trail ends at a large sycamore tree

The famous branch trail off the Finger Lakes Trail spans the entire east side of Letchworth and provides a great challenge to cyclists. The north end is flatter, and the middle and southern ends will get your heart pumping with its many gullies and hills.

While the trail can be accessed from several points within LivCo, we suggest parking at the Mount Morris Dam for access to restrooms.
You can loop back to your car via River Road if you don’t want to do an out-and-back.

Imagine paddling from a busy lake to a serene creek, aware there are cars and people all around but you feel like you are all by yourself. Conesus Lake’s Inlet stream allows you to enjoy nature without big boat traffic, noise and waves. Drop in to this flat water paddle and head away from the lake to be enveloped by grassy shores and tree lined banks. Want even more serene paddling? Head to Conesus Lake Inlet to paddle The Swamp. Especially fun in early spring when northern pike and walleye fish spawning has them jumping over the dam.
