Mount Morris

Mount Morris is a quaint town and village located on the edge of Letchworth State Park. Formed in the early 19th century from a piece of land taken from the town of Leicester, Mount Morris’ greatest claim to fame is as the birthplace of Francis Bellamy, author of The Pledge of Allegiance.

Mount Morris enjoyed early success as a transportation and trade hub, but the town fell on hard times in the latter half of the 20th century. Today, the town and village have undergone a Cinderella-esque transformation, boasting a revitalized downtown, boutique shops, and electric eateries. Here you’ll find the Country Mouse Tea Room, Suzea’s Gluten Free Café, and Questa Lasagna. Explore downtown for brilliant works of art, including a mural by Rochester artist Shawn Dunwoody and several black bear statues.
