A few scoops of ice cream is the perfect respite from the sweltering heat of a LivCo summer, and the Genesee River Valley has no shortage of ice creameries — and hidden ice cream gems — to satisfy your cravings and cool you down. So while you’re soaking up the sun on Conesus Lake, shopping, or exploring one of the nine Main Streets, cool off with a delicious frozen treat to beat the summer heat. Leicester, New York
A classic local favorite brought back to life in the last few years, Moonie's is serving up a variety of ice cream flavors and unique creations. Check out their milkshake of the week, from Orange Creamsicle to Cookie Monster. Using fresh ingredients and homemade waffle cones, this is one ice cream stop you won't want to miss.
Lakeville, New York
Come for the ice cream, stay for the family fun! At Minnehan’s getting ice cream is just the cherry on top of the sundae. Hit the gas pedal on the go-kart track, putt-putt a few rounds in mini-golf, rack up points in the arcade, and top it all off with a towering cone of ice cream, drenched in hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles.
Mount Morris, New York
Known for being irresistibly creamy, all of the flavors at Zeppo’s Creekside Creamery are handmade in the store. Dig into a dish, towering cone, or ice cream float sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Not in the mood for ice cream? At the same location, Fudgetown serves up an abundance of treats, like chocolate-dipped Oreos, hot cocoa bombs, and, of course, lots of fudge.

Expect a line for this cult favorite! Kish-a-wa Creamery is a cash-only ice cream shop that showcases the best of farm-to-table, artisan creations. They partner with local producers for their dairy and other ingredients, so you always know you’re getting the freshest and the best. Featuring multiple brands and styles of ice cream and sorbets, along with old-fashioned favorites like sundaes, shakes, smoothies, splits, and more!
Livonia, New York
Twisters has been a seasonal favorite of Livonia locals since 2004, serving over 40 flavors of custard and homemade hard ice cream. Dig into a dish of Cinnamon Churro ice cream, a cookie bottom sundae, or even a classic slush puppy.
Dansville, New York
Located in Dansville, Ice Cream Island is a seasonal stand offering more than 20 flavors of Super Rich Gifford's and Perry's hard ice cream, sundaes, shakes, soft custard, and Zweigle's hot dogs. Stop by after a trip to Stony Brook State Park.
Piffard, New York
Enjoy the nostalgic experience of a 1950s diner at The Barn Restaurant where you'll find vintage décor, toys, and more that create the feeling of stepping back in time. Serving up Perry's hard ice cream, you'll have tons of flavors to choose from. If you're looking for something else sweet, The Barn serves up donuts on Saturdays and Sundays.
Groveland, New York
You might know them for trees, but Letson Tree Farm is home to year-round activities. From May to September, stop by their stand in Groveland to enjoy Perry's ice cream, milkshakes, floats, and hot fudge sundaes.
