This itinerary covers the stretch between Leicester and Dansville, offering a picturesque drive through rural landscapes and small-town charm.

This scenic route winds through farmland and rolling hills, providing travelers with views of the region’s natural beauty. Along the way, visitors can experience the tranquility of the countryside, with opportunities to explore vibrant downtowns, unique state parks, and cozy communities. Take this peaceful alternative to the busier highways for a relaxing journey through the heritage and charm of the Finger Lakes.

Start: Leicester, New York

Brian’s USA Diner serves food just like Grandma's home cooking. Situated conveniently close to Letchworth State Park, this diner is known for generous portions and speedy service. Located less than a mile west of Route 36, the Seasonal Gift Shop is a hidden gem for home decor and furniture. Be sure to stop by the Seasonal Gift Shop in October for their fall open house and tent sale.

Stop: For a hike

Starting from the parking lot on Route 36, you have access to several trail systems. Genesee Valley Greenway State Park parallels Route 36 and Mount Morris Main Street for eight miles. Cross the pedestrian bridge and look for signage pointing to the Finger Lakes Trail: Letchworth Branch. Access Letchworth State Park via Trail 20. This five-mile trail passes the Mount Morris Dam Overlook, Highbanks Recreation Area, and Hogsback Overlook. Need an EV Connect Charging Station? Park in the municipal lot.
